Apatosaurus

Previously classed as "Brontosaurus", and also known as "Elosaurus", the Apatosaurus was a sauropod dinosaur that existed around 150 million years ago, during the Jurrassic period, and it one of the largest land animals ever to have existed. In reality, Apatosaurus held its neck straight and stiff, and could not browse on high trees. But in the Land Before Time, their necks are very flexible.

In The Land Before Time they are a type of "Longneck", due to the characteristic length of the neck.

Some adult examples of this species in the movies are Littlefoot's grandparents and Bron (Littlefoot's father), as well as the mother of and Littlefoot himself, who is a young Apatosaurus.

While Littlefoot, Ali and their families are said to be Apatosaurus, some fans have noted that they look more like Camarasaurus, a similar-looking sauropod which lived around the same time.
