  • Bellydragger - Crocodile.
  • Big Longneck Test - A test that longnecks must take to prove if the're right to be a leader of a herd.
  • Big Face - A possible term for Big Mouths/Swimmers. It was first used by Topsy in Land Before Time II when urging his daughter not to play with dinosaurs outside of her race. It may be a racial slur.
  • Big Mouth - A term for Parasaurolophus. Ducky uses it to refer to herself in the first movie. Also synonymous with the more commonly used "Swimmer," though "Swimmer" is more ambiguous.
  • Bright Circle - The sun.
  • Bright Circle Celebration - This is a special celebration that some of the Great Valley Dinosaur observe. They gather to say what they have learned since the last Bright Circle Celebration and to share in tasty food that has been gathered for the celebration.
  • Buzzing Stingers - Bees. In LBT 6, Ducky mentions getting her beak stuck in "a hive of buzzing stingers," though in the follow up song "Bad Luck," she uses the term "bee."

[edit] C

  • Cold Time - This is what winter is called in the LBT universe, or at least in some areas. Can also refer to a period of time, since Pterano was banished for "five cold times."

[edit] D

  • Days of Rising Water - The wet season.

[edit] E

[edit] F

  • Fast Water - Water that is flowing or moving fast.
  • Flathead - This is a racial slur directed against longnecks on the idea that all sauropods have flat heads. It is heard twice in the the first film. It is associated with stupidity; at one point, Cera sneers at Littlefoot, saying "My father told me that flatheads have very small brains." There are other racial slurs such as "big face" and Topsy knows those as well.
  • Flatteeth - a term Chomper used in the televison sereis for plant eating creatures in general
  • Flyer - Generic term for anything that flies, such as Petrie or Guido.

[edit] G

  • Glider - This refers to flyers that, rather than flapping, glide on the wind. (Ex. Microraptor.)
  • Great Earthshake - The Great Earthshake is the name given to the large earthquake that happened in the first film. It separated the dinosaur families and also stunned Sharptooth. This Earthshake is thought to have been part of the Continental Drift.
  • Green Food - Plants, or more specifically, edible plants for herbivores to eat.
  • Ground Prickly - Refers to burrs.

  • Hard Water - Ice.
  • Hatch Day - Birthday. See "Star Day."

  • Sharptooth - Any carnivorous species, such as Tyrannosaurus. Sharks and pliosaurs are known as "Swimming Sharpteeth."
  • Sinking Sand - Quicksand.
  • Sky Colors - This is the LBT term for a rainbow, or in plural use rainbows.
  • Sky Color Stone -
    Sky Color Stones.

This is a type of stone that when cracked in half allows one to see many colors. Littlefoot and Cera mention having seen them before, but disagree on where they can be found. The modern term is geodes.

  • Sky Fire - This is what the LBT folks call lightning, likely because it can start a fire and is very bright.
  • Sky Puffies - This is the LBT term for clouds. It seems it's mostly used for white puffy clouds seen on most days.
  • Sky Water - Rain.
  • Sleep Rumbles - Snoring.
  • Sleep Story - Dream.
  • Smoking Mountains - Volcanoes. Also called "Booming Mountains" or "Mountains That Burn."
  • Star Day - This is explained by Ruby as time when a certain star can be seen in the sky in a certain position when the individual hatched. Since some of the gang do not know what this is and Ruby has to explain it to them it would seem to indicate that some dinosaurs to not observe this, while some do. It's possible the Great Valley inhabitants use the term "Hatch Day," spoken by Cera in LBT 5.
  • Stone Teeth - Stalactites.
  • Story Speakers - These are longnecks who travel and tell the stories, myths, and oral history to other longnecks. Grandpa longneck was a story speaker. Saro is another such story speaker. These are the only two who have been identified as story speakers. It is unknown if other types of dinosaurs such as threehorns, flyers, or other types have their own story speakers or not.
  • Sweet Bubbles - Grapes.

  • Tree Star - A type of leaf shaped like a star.
